Well, now I can talk about what was. I got through my main 2 surgeries Heart and Hip so then I could relax for the rest of the year. The last thing on the list was a colonoscopy in December which allwent well. I was told I had 7 polyps some pre-cancer so I have to go back in 2 years . We got through Christmas and New Years fine. Here we are at the beginning of February we have a mission going at church, which I must say I am enjoying. Family is surviving more or less. Young people always seem to have their troubles which we did to. One nice thing about old age is you don't remember the hard times as well as you used to. I still would love to move onto a boat but it probably won't happen. Sa la vi or whatever. My balance is not real good yet but other than short-term memory my mind is still good. I have several things I would like to change but they aren't likely to happen. The beauty of my age is they aren't really that all fired important anymore.I just sort of live and let live. Give me good music and little rum, good food and my darling wife and I'll get by just fine. The government can good to hell in a hand basket and I'll survive. Let the young one's take care of it. I'm happy! God loves me and I'll be content till he calls me home. we have plenty of good friends both personally and at church to keep us active, we still love to travel, we're going over to the west coast the end of the month to visit friends and go to the TECH reunion. I keep finding folks I knew or know still on the Computer. Facebook is great for finding friends after many years. Although a lot of the people in my generation are computer-illiterate. But surprisingly there are a lot of them on-line since they came out with pads and smartphone and such. I still have my sailboat although it's been in the sideyard for 2 years now waiting for me. I want to give it to Sarah because she could really use it but I'm waiting for her to find a place to berth it. We are going to have Ruth down for a visit in April and we are going to visit Laura and Sarah soon I hope. I am oh so ready to take a cruise to the Caribbean or even the Bahamas, just to get on the water. Let me tell you it's not fun to be a landlocked sailor. We are going to go up on the river and get a pontoon boat for the day soon. I found a good buy on a houseboat up in Georgia but as you can imagine nothing came of it. !986, 38' Holiday Mansion, twin V-8's, 2 bedroom, great for cruising around Florida or around the great circle even. but alas it's still in Georgia waiting. Oh, well, until I can't sleep again or Something really important happens I am done for this point in time. If you are reading this it's 5:21AM on Feb.6 I just couldn't sleepand since I don't get on and chat or look at porn i guess this is the next best thing. BYE!!!

Time is close
Well, I had my preop today so I guess I'm committed. Next Thursday is it! We've been very busy since last I added to this. We went to Milledgeville for Sarah's graduation, then down to Old Town, FL to take a boat ride on the Swannee river (yawn). We only stayed one night at Old Town, the motel sucked. We then started South on 19, thinking we were on on the way home. Jean wanted to have dinner on the water so I looked on the map and found a little place called Cedar Key with lots of restuarants on the water and just 24 miles off 19. So we went to Cedar Key for supper......and stayed for 2 days! Pictures follow.

Time for a recap of the last 6 months or so.
Well, I got my fixed on Jan 26th. They took it out and rebuilt it then put it back. All worked well. I was in CICU for 4 days. I remember nothing till I got out of there and into my own room. From that point on I needed no pain meds. I recovered well and was sent home on Friday. I had a little problem breathing but that has gotten better since. The Heart Doctor and lung Doctor and heart surgeon all have released me. SO now all I have to do is wait till May to have my left hip replaced. Then I can walk the beach again with my wife. Pray for me til then. the next installment will be after the next operation.

My boat's for sale $5500 w/Trailer
Summer is waning and with it the sailing season will dwindle to weekends. Even in Florida winter is a slower season. The snow birds start showing up so the roads and marina's get full and hectic. I like to do the bulk of my visiting trips and beach trips during the Sept. to March time frame. We will start out going to Sanibel Island next week musings and photo's to follow. My boat is going up to sale as quick as I can get it cleaned up. With my health issues I sadly can no longer sail. Above is a picture of my mistress.

Musings
Well,I went to the doctor again. This makes 4 so far with 1 more to go. About aa year ago Istarted to get a few twinges in my left hip. It just continued to get worst until I finally went to my GP.He gave me about 3 different pain pills, none of which worked. Finally I gave up and went to an ortho doctor. He said the problem was I was trying to put a square peg in a round hole,my left hip joint. I really didn't like his bedside manner but he could get me 3 cortisone shots. The first one worked well for about a month. The second a bit shorter about 2 weeks. The last one a matter of days. During that time I went from a slight limp to using a cane around home and for short walks.I also got an electric scooter from my foster son in Indiana. We have been on trips for about 6 out of the last 10 weeks. I have seen another doctor at Celebration Clinic. I liked him we hit it off well. He said he wanted clearance letters from my heart doctor and my GP. My next visit was to my heart doctor. He said he doesn't think I should take the chance. To much danger to my heart. Next my GP told me if it were him he would not take the chance either. I do have to see a lung doctor for a check of my COPD. I'm short of breath most of the time. The doctors want to know if it's caused by lungs or heart so next week I'll find out.to be continued as long as I'm alive.

The ending for a Mountain Man
I just finished this book, which I found in Yellowstone Park.
Now it may seen odd to some of you that a sailor would identify with mountain me but you have to look back at my life and see where I've been.
I started out spending much time in my own company. I was pretty much alone most of my childhood and so with comic books for reading material and a really big imagination The world was my oyster and anything was possible. I have always read a lot which broadened my world throughout my whole life. I always enjoyed the water. I discovered it when I went on vacation with my family in Northern Indiana. I first learned to row at about 6. From there on I have lived the idea that anything is possible for me if I try hard enough. I married a woman who's father told her that she could do anything she wanted and she believed him. And both of us have lived that notion ever since. I have worked in more fields than I can remember. I have found few things I couldn't do and we taught our children the same philosophy. In middle age I discovered flying, sailing, muzzleloader rifles and pistols. Alternative energy systems. I built and used wind power, solar power. wood heat. I designed and built a totally solar home. We lived in a valley with spring water only and it was very good. the era of building muzzleloader was what got me interested in mountain men and my 40+ years of sailing has always fed my interest in pirate history and tall ships. So I truly am fascinated with everything from mountains to the sea. We went to Alaska a few years ago and both said had we seen it as young newly married we would quite possibly moved there. Had we seen the sea much earlier we might well have moved there. As it was we raised our family in Indiana and do feel it was a good place to have brought them up. Now at the end of life I can truthfully say I have mostly been there and done that. Not that we wont continue trying new and fun things as long as God leaves us here to enjoy this wonderful world we live in. There are still many things to see and places to go while we still can. So stay tuned for the future! Following this tirade will be many pictures of our recent trip out west.
